ST. PETERSBURG, FL — November 13, 2025 — Comegys Insurance Agency, in partnership with Heritage Insurance, proudly announces Ms. Alexis Baker, School Nurse and Girls Sports Coach at Mangrove Bay Middle School, as one of the recipients of the 2025 Teacher Giveaway Program. Ms. Baker received a $500 award in recognition of her compassion, leadership, and dedication to the health and well-being of her students.
The Teacher Giveaway Program distributed $5,000 throughout November to exceptional educators and school staff across the community. From hundreds of heartfelt nominations, a group of senior residents from a local nursing home volunteered to review submissions and select the final honorees — celebrating those who go above and beyond to make a difference in education.
Ms. Baker was nominated by her mother, Stephanie Baker, who shared that “not only teachers make a difference at a school, but school nurses do also.” Her words captured the heart of the program and underscored the many unsung heroes working to support students each day.
Mangrove Bay Middle School, now in its second year, is a unique partnership with the YMCA and serves as a School of Health and Wellness. The school emphasizes movement and physical activity in daily learning — replacing traditional desks with pedal stations to help students stay active and engaged throughout the day.
